TSA Carry-ons
The following is a checklist of items that are declared "safe" by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as carry-on items:
Liquids, aerosols and gels are considered safe for carry-on but only in limited quantities. Each passenger is only permitted one bag as a way of limiting total volume of gels, liquids and aerosol and allowing TSA officers to quickly clear all items.
Allowable Items
- 3.4 oz (100ml) bottle or less (by volume)
- 1 quart-sized, clear plastic, zip-top bag
- 1 bag/passenger placed in screening bin
- *** 1 quart bag/passenger limits total volume & 3.4oz containers are a security measure)
Be Prepared
By preparing in advance and following these guidelines it will ensure everyone gets through TSA checkpoints faster.
*** If in doubt, put your liquids in your checked baggage.
Declare Larger Liquids
Sometimes it is pertinent to bring items in larger quantities (i.e. baby formula, medications and breast milk). These items are allowed to be carried on in reasonable quantities greater than 3.4 oz and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Make sure to declare these items for inspection at the TSA checkpoint; officers may need to open them for further screening.
